Focus + Business = SuccessPosted by B2B on: 2006-04-03 09:55:00 Focus + Business = Success Cijaye DePradine You might be asking, how do you focus on planning? Or why? Well, for me it's simple. If you don't have a plan - your business is likely to get messy and new opportunities could overwhelm you. I am not suggesting that you go out and rewrite your business plan today (lets face it, we're all too busy for something like that now); but an executive summary for your business as a whole or the project(s) at hand might be a great start. If that feels like too much work for you...might I recommend that you consider this alternative for a moment: You've got a project to implement today, you know it's worked for others and you are ready to make it work for you. So you hire someone to help you execute and then wait for the results. *This is usually the most effort many entrepreneurs are willing to put in. But what happens when you don't get results? Do you blame someone? Do you think that your hired help has messed up somewhere? Did you tell them everything they needed to know about the process in direct relationship to your business? Did they advise you about their process? Did they ask you questions and require that you have the answers before proceeding? Did you ever discuss the results you expected? Or was it just one of those cases of "I need to implement this project, I hear that you've done this before, so I am going to trust that you can do it with my particular and unique business - so go for it." *This is also very common - and quite frankly pretty scary! No reveal of history and no reveal of expectations. Would you do that to with a new babysitter for your kids? A new doctor? A mortgage broker? So why would you do it with your business? You have just as much responsibility to devulge pertinent information as your hired help does. If there are pieces missing - you won't get a finished product in the end. How could you? Focus is the only way you will ever be able to fill in the blanks and if you expect success, you must pay attention (focus) to make it work! I know you can do it! We all can. Just take 30 minutes out of each day and review your plan. Make sure you don't get sidetracked. Make sure you consult that plan every time there is a new decision to make also and weigh it up against the end result? Do they fit together? Being "evolution focused" will get you there faster; there is no question.
