Three Reasons Personal Success Eludes Most PeoplPosted by B2B on: 2006-01-23 10:23:02 Three Reasons Personal Success Eludes Most People By: Sid Smith These days the quickest way to make a million dollars is to tell others how to make a million dollars. The Personal Growth business has become a scammer’s dream market. If you’re anything like me, and the hundreds of thousands who have immersed themselves in various self-help, personal growth, and spiritual guides to creating wealth, you’ve got a shelf-full of books and tapes. And, for most people, it never really works, does it? I spent several years accumulating debt before I finally figured out the three key reasons success had eluded me. Now, I’m taking the time to reveal what I’ve learned, not so that I can get out of debt on your shoulders, but because I’ve already gotten out of debt, and am doing quite fine (thank you, universe). Here are the three biggest reasons that I and others with whom I’ve worked have failed to succeed in creating wealth: 1. We never truly decided to be successful. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But, when I really got down and dirty honest with myself, I had to admit that I never made a truly committed decision to be successful. It was a little too frightening. As long as we have an “out”, we’ll take it at the first sign of failure or challenge. Off we go onto the next great adventure, saying, “I guess it wasn’t meant to be.” 2. We want instant gratification Earl Nightingale defined success as “The Progressive Realization of a Worthy Ideal.” The key words are – Progressive, Realization, and Worthy Ideal. We want success, and we want it now. And, we define success as the ACHIEVEMENT of a goal. Big mistake, and it’s why most of us fail. All worthy ideals are achieved Progressively. 3. We expect failure If your daily to-do list is longer than five items, then count yourself amongst those who expect failure. I’ve found that people who expect to succeed don’t maintain long to-do lists. They do what they CAN do in any given day, and TRUST that the universe will take care of everything else. By “the universe”, I mean everything that’s outside of you. This could include people you don’t know, and people you DO know, whom you have hired to help you. Success doesn’t have to be an arduous task. And, the Secret to Success isn’t really a secret. It involves making a committed decision, envisioning what you want to achieve, and doing what you CAN do every day as success progressively unfolds before you. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. DECIDE to be successful. Then, go make it happen.
